Games: collection 2014 at €84,4 billion, the expense of the Italians is of €17.4 billion

Gaming in 2014 collected a total of €84.4 billion, of which €7.9 billion for the Treasury, compared to €8.1 billion of last year. That in the face of winnings of €66.954 million and of a total players expense of €17.445 million. These are the data of the Agenzia delle dogane e dei monopoli, published in the Blue Book.

DETAILS OF GAMES – The entertainment machines AWPS drive the market with a collection of €25,382, of which 3.2 billion for the Treasury. VLTS reach €21.388 billion. The devices without cash prizes, the so-called paragraph 7, have a collection of €231 million, bingo of €1,624 million, horse betting of €682 million. Sports-based games realize a collection of €4,250 million, numerical games with a totalizator €1,188 million, while lotteries €9,441 million. Lotto reaches €6.6 billion, while remote skill games €734 million. The collection of card games is of €11,5 billion, organized in a different way from a tournament and games of chance with fixed odds.

NEW BETTING TYPES - New entry in betting field, with the new type of virtual betting game with a collection of €1.1 billion and Betting Exchange with €205 million.

CONTROLS IN THE FIELD - The number of shops controlled in 2014 recorded a significant increase over the previous year mainly in betting field that showed a +16% with regard to 2013 and a +27% when compared to 2012. The decision to strengthen control activities towards this sector, caused by the well-known phenomenon of gambling offer on physical network by subjects without a licence, was particularly important also in terms of the verified unpaid tax that in betting field recorded an increase of 98% compared to 2013 and of more than 200% compared to 2012. An appreciable reduction of administrative violations and tax evasion in the field of devices for fun and entertainment has been noticed despite an unchanged commitment to control and an essentially stable number of shops controlled (cd. deterrent effect).

SITES BLOCKED - More than 5200 gambling sites blocked by State Monopolies, with a drop in attempts to enter the dot com from over 1.5 billion in 2013 to 720 million in 2014.

MINOR CONTROLS – Concerning the activities about gaming prohibition to minors, in 2014 114 violations have been found (82 in 2013), 98 penalties have been issued (72 in 2013) for an amount of €907,999. Moreover, 58 shops have been suspended (there were 39 in 2013) for a total of 842 days of suspension (422 in 2013).
