Paul Gauselmann meets Leonard Hastings Ainsworth

Leonard Hastings Ainsworth, Australian coin-op machine pioneer and today’s Executive Chairman of Ainsworth Game Technology, met with Paul Gauselmann, founder and Management Board Chairman of Gauselmann AG, at the industry’s leading international show. With inventiveness, determination, dedication and a steady input of new ideas, these two veterans of the coin-op industry, who are both still fully active and very much involved in steering the destiny of their respective companies, have been decisively shaping global gaming markets for several decades. Ainsworth and Gauselmann have known each other for many years and maintain good relations both as friends and business associates.

Leonard Hastings Ainsworth, who was born in 1924, founded the company Aristocrat in 1953, thus paving the way for his life’s work. Just four years later, in 1957, Paul Gauselmann, who is ten years younger, laid the foundation stone for the Gauselmann Group in Germany. Ainsworth was the pioneer of poker machines. For his activities in this field, the poker community called the “Texas Hold´em” starting hand after him – which was quite an accolade. Around the same time as Ainsworth, Paul Gauselmann built up a coin-op empire from a one-man business to an international group of companies in a rare kind of German success story. Today, with more than 9,000 employees and annual revenue of around 2.2 billion euros, the Gauselmann Group is a global industry leader.
