On May 13th, the Eastern European Gaming Summit (EEGS)<\/strong> hosted a dedicated affiliate webinar<\/strong> exploring one of the most pressing challenges in iGaming<\/strong> today: how affiliates<\/strong> can stay commercially effective<\/strong> while adopting an increasingly responsible role in player protection<\/strong>. The session, titled “Balancing Compliance and Conversion: The Affiliate’s Role in Responsible Gaming”<\/strong>, featured Gjorgje Ristikj<\/strong>, Founder of Gamblers Connect<\/strong> and Co-Founder & CEO of RankRadar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The conversation<\/strong> took place against a backdrop of increasing regulatory oversight<\/strong> and market saturation<\/strong>, emphasizing the transformation<\/strong> of the affiliate segment<\/strong> into an essential part of the iGaming ecosystem<\/strong>. As highlighted during the discussion, affiliates<\/strong> are no longer peripheral actors<\/strong>, but full-fledged digital media businesses<\/strong>, operating with substantial investment<\/strong> in content, compliance, analytics, and brand credibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ristikj<\/strong> pointed out that modern affiliates<\/strong> are increasingly taking on roles traditionally associated with in-house marketing teams<\/strong>, from advanced SEO operations<\/strong> and audience segmentation<\/strong> to responsible gaming communication<\/strong> and transparency standards<\/strong>. These shifts<\/strong> are not merely cosmetic<\/strong>. As he noted, operators now rely on affiliates<\/strong> not only to drive traffic<\/strong>, but also to strengthen brand integrity<\/strong>, especially in competitive<\/strong> or newly regulated markets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One of the main themes<\/strong> discussed was the growing expectation<\/strong> for affiliates<\/strong> to support safe gaming environments<\/strong>, both through the content<\/strong> they produce and the brands<\/strong> they promote<\/strong>. As a concrete example<\/strong>, Ristikj<\/strong> introduced a Responsible Gambling Scoring Index<\/strong>, developed by Gamblers Connect<\/strong>. The tool<\/strong> evaluates operators<\/strong> based on the presence of key responsible gaming features<\/strong> and publicly displays<\/strong> a score<\/strong> to inform and empower players<\/strong>. This initiative<\/strong> reflects a broader industry movement<\/strong> to embed responsible gaming principles<\/strong> at every stage<\/strong> of the user journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Another major focus<\/strong> was on the growing operational pressure<\/strong> faced by affiliates<\/strong>. While operators<\/strong> continue to favor revenue-sharing models<\/strong>, Ristikj<\/strong> argued that fixed listing fees<\/strong> are becoming necessary<\/strong> to sustain professional affiliate operations<\/strong>. The investment<\/strong> in content<\/strong>, platform development<\/strong>, video production<\/strong>, and tracking infrastructure<\/strong> has significantly increased<\/strong> the costs<\/strong> of doing business<\/strong>, especially as privacy regulations<\/strong> and attribution challenges<\/strong> reduce the reliability<\/strong> of traditional performance models<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The webinar also touched on the emergence of video-driven affiliate strategies<\/strong> and personal branding<\/strong> as differentiators<\/strong> in an increasingly crowded landscape<\/strong>. As new players<\/strong>, supported by agencies<\/strong> or former operator teams<\/strong>, enter the market<\/strong> with aggressive strategies<\/strong>, trust<\/strong> and transparency<\/strong> are becoming key assets<\/strong> for sustainable success<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The session<\/strong> concluded with a clear message<\/strong>: affiliates<\/strong> who want to remain relevant<\/strong> must adapt to a new standard of accountability<\/strong>. That means embedding responsible gaming principles<\/strong> not only as regulatory compliance<\/strong>, but also as core parts of the brand experience<\/strong>, something players, regulators<\/strong>, and operators<\/strong> will increasingly demand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
