Gauselmann Group donates 10.000 euros for a good cause

Schloss Benkhausen presented an impressive sight on Friday morning when the British bacta bikers rode into the courtyard on their powerful machines. The short stopover in Espelkamp on their motorcycle tour across Europe was no coincidence, however. The bacta bikers are a group of motorcyclists who all work in the British entertainment and gaming industry and are active members in the industry association bacta. The bacta bikers are known internationally for their charity tours. Paul Gauselmann, Chairman of the Gauselmann Group, had personally invited the group of bikers to Schloss Benkhausen, the Gauselmann Group’s training centre, in order to hand over a cheque donating 10,000 euros to a good cause.

“What the bacta bikers do goes way beyond normal association work and deserves recognition,” Paul Gauselmann says. “As a leading gaming company – also on the British market – we would like to make a contribution for society and at the same time affirm our commitment to the British gaming machine and entertainment industry, in which we are represented with four companies and around 2,000 employees, in the same way as we have done in our home region for many years.”

For the bacta bikers, social commitment is also more than just an empty phrase. The main aim of their challenging motorbike tours, often covering thousands of kilometres, is to collect money for charity. Since their foundation in 1991 they have undertaken 12 tours and collected in excess of 165,000 pounds Sterling (212,555 euros), which they have donated to children’s hospitals or non-profit organisations.
For their current fund-raising campaign and one of their longest tours, the seven bikers are travelling more than 3,000 kilometres through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium and the UK. A real challenge for Andrew Murden, Dave Orton, Alf Preece, Bob Rudd, Phil Silver, Tony Slater and Geoff Weeden – especially when you consider that the bikers have an average age of over 66. After spending the night at Schloss Benkhausen, the bacta bikers’ journey continues south first thing Saturday morning.
