Merkur Gaming leading the way with innovations in Italy

27 November 2012 - 16:11

Merkur Gaming again took prominent position at the recent ENADA Roma that took place between the 17th and 19th October at the New Rome Trade Fair in Rome, Italy. This was the ideal platform to portray the great new innovations Merkur Gaming is offering both market segments – both the AWP (Comma 6a) and the VLT (Comma 6b) segments.

The new games for the AWP (Comma 6a) market add greatly to what has already grown to become a leading selection of games. The new ‘Mystery Galaxy’ and ‘Mystery MONOPOLY’ multi-games hit a real note with visitors. In particular, ‘Mystery MONOPOLY’ stood out – not only as it is based on the famous MONOPOLY board game. Two unique features make this game even more appealing: the ‘Mr. MONOPOLY bonus’ and the possibility to play until the last cent once enough energy has been accumulated.

In the AWP market, new, tighter security regulations may well create the demand for totally new AWPs. Merkur Gaming is ideally placed here with the WB4 cabinet due to its excellent flexibility to allow the implementation of new components and protocols. Merkur Gaming took the opportunity at the ENADA Rome to present prototypes to underline the innovations that Merkur Gaming will bring to this market.

Mr. Roberto Ronchi, Merkur Gaming General Manager in Italy, confirmed the great success for Merkur Gaming at the ENADA Rome, stating, “The combination of exquisite cabinets and games that are ‘made in Germany’ is well appreciated in Italy. The innovations on both the game side for the Comma 6a AWP market as it is today and as it may well soon become demonstrate how committed we are to the Italian gaming market. Even our high expectations were exceeded at the ENADA Roma. Our strategy of supporting the market with excellent products and service is paying dividends”.

Besides the comma 6a market the Italian VLT market, which continues to grow with an installed base of just over 45,000 machines at present, is important for Merkur Gaming. The VLT gaming machines have found a different type of player and thus the AWP market has not suffered as a consequence (on the contrary, the AWP market continues to grow as well). Merkur’s slant top Evolution cabinet attracts the players with its superior ergonomic design and delivers better results in combination with a great variety of new game titles.

The ‘Merkur Dispenser 100’ was naturally on proud display. The reference for banknote recycling with the possibility to dispense three different note denominations has already reached the milestone of over 80,000 units produced for global markets. Nearly 15,000 of these are installed alone in Italy. Merkur’s Italian partner VNE, the largest international customer, is significantly involved in the success of the ‘Merkur Dispenser 100’ in Italy where it has become the most chosen banknote recycler for change machines. With the latest version ‘Merkur Dispenser 100 plus’ this product has become even more reliable and easy to service.

Italy represents the largest market in the entire world at present for change machines. The leading change machine manufacturer in Germany – GeWeTe of the Gauselmann Group – also presented its solutions on the stand.
